TACKLING homelessness is now a top priority for Halton Council.

The authority is striving to ensure emergency help is provided for anyone who loses their home.

Halton became the first area outside London to launch the No Second Night Out initiative in February and has now pledged to back a national campaign to combat rough sleeping.

Clr Marie Wright, board member for health and adults, said: “Halton Council can help people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

“The amount of help you may be entitled to will depend on your individual circumstances.

“Everyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness will be given advice about housing options and help to try and find accommodatiion.”

Halton signed up to Homeless Link’s national Take a Step to end rough sleeping campaign.

Services across Cheshire and Merseyside aimed to help 500 people in the first year of the initiative and has already hit that target in the project’s first six months.

If you are worried about losing your home, have been served with a notice to leave or have already lost your home, contact the council’s contact centre or call into a one stop shop.
