More than 300 vintage vehicles coming to Widnes rally
VISITORS can travel to a vintage rally in Widnes in style A 1960s bus will be operating free rides from car parks off Kingsway to Victoria Park throughout the two day event, on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 29.
The bus is like the one featured in the Cliff Richard film Summer Holiday and may rekindle memories of the TV series On The Buses.
More than 300 vintage vehicles, cars, motorbikes and machines will be display as this year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The Lytham St Annes Spitfire Display Team will bring full size replica Spitfire Mark IX to demonstrate the realities of serving as aiircrew in World War 2.
Halton Cllr Eddie Jones, board member for economic development, said: "It is a real coup to get the historic bus.
"And with the Spitfire too, adding to all the other attractions, there won't be many forms of transport not represented.
"The North West's industrial heritage is very rich and steeped in transport manufacture."
The 3Sixty Cycle stunt team will be going for one of more than 20 World Record attempts.
Officially overseen by the adjudicators from Guinness World Records, the team hopes to break the World Record for the longest ‘stoppie’.
Falconry displays, a world famous Spitfire, chainsaw sculpture, a dog display team and a festival of real ale are among some of the other attractions.
Admission is free and the event runs from 10am to 5pm both days.
