Halton’s Mayor and Mayoress join a charity boat trip
A RELAXING boat trip gave people the chance to unwind and raise funds for the Mayor’s two charities.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Halton, Clrs Tom and Angela McInerney, joined a mini cruise from Preston Brook in Runcorn to Lymm and back.
They sailed along the Bridgewater Canal last Monday on two barges belonging to the Canal Boat Project.
The event was in aid of the Let’s Go Stroke Club and Runcorn and Widnes Cancer Support Group.
Dee Graal, development co-ordinator of the cancer group said: “The boat trip was wonderful. What a pleasant way to spend a few hours, just drifting through the countryside at four miles an hour.
“It makes you chill and slows your mind when it is probably too active with the 101 things we do in a day. It was also lovely to see familiar landscapes from a different perspective.
“We got to know a lot more about the valuable services the Canal Boat Project provide for local young people.
“It was a lovely way to raise funds for the Mayor's Charity."
