CELEBRITY north west chef Mike Harrison will be cooking live on stage as part of My Halton Foody Fortnight, an action packed programme which started on Monday.

He will be demonstrating in Runcorn street market on Tuesday, September 25, and Widnes market on Wednesday, September 26, from 10am to 1pm.

He will be joined by guest cooks from Norton Priory Walled Garden, Halton school meals service and Stobart Stadium.

They will prepare some of their recipes for you to taste.

Almost 10,000 people watched chefs at Widnes market last year.

Halton Council Leader Cllr Rob Polhill, said: "The event was one of the highlights of the year last year. I am really looking forward again to what is becoming a very popular fortnight in Halton's calendar.

“There is something to suit everyone.”

Mike has travelled across California, Canada and the British Isles in a career spanning 30 years.

His restaurant gained the prestigious ‘Lancashire life newcomer of the year’ award in 1996 and also saw him nominated for chef of the year at Manchester food and drink festival.

He has appeared on TV, worked with celebrity chefs and helped set up new businesses as a consultant.

In 2008, Michael opened a new fine food store, restaurant and cookery school with his partner.

Visitors to Norton Priory’s Walled Garden will be able to taste beer and priory ale cake, as well as watch ice cream being made.
