CARAVANS have become the latest target for arson attacks in Runcorn.

Two parked outside people’s homes have been deliberately torched in two days.

Firefighters fear someone could be hurt if the spate continues.

Runcorn fire station manager Sean Henshaw said: "These fires were set very close to people's homes and so have the potential to threaten life. Thankfully no-one has been hurt but we fear this may not be the case if these attacks continue.

"Therefore, we would like the community's help in finding those responsible for these crimes.

“Arson costs communities heavily, both in terms of the clear up costs and increases to insurance premiums.

“We are sure someone out there knows something that may help bring this spate of criminal attacks to an end we just need them to come forward.”

A caravan in Castle Rise was destroyed on Wednesday, September 5, and another one wrecked in Brookfield Avenue, the following evening.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or Cheshire Police on 101.
