Shop assistant attacked with a sledgehammer in Halton View robbery

ARMED robbers attacked staff at a Widnes shop.
Three masked men brandishing claw hammers and a sledghammer, burst into the Spar Shop in Halton View.
One of the offenders struck a 31-year-old male shop assistant with a sledgehammer before demanding cash.
The gang fled after money was handed over.
They made their getaway in a dark coloured Audi estate, driving off towards Warrington Road and Moorfield Road.
The employee who was assault received minor injuries, including soreness to his ribs.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at around 9.48pm on Saturday, September 8.
The first man is about 6ft 6ins tall, and of large build. He was wearing a black balaclava, a black beanie hat and a black Northface jacket. The sledgehammer he used had a black head with a brown handle.
The second robber is described as being between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a black balaclava, a black peaked cap and a black shell suit.
There is no description of the third member of the gang.
