A WIDOWER now has a new home, thanks to Halton’s innovative choice letting service.

Pensioner Brian Street, aged 72, had lived in Windmill Hill, Runcorn, for 30 years, with his partner, Elizabeth Connolly.

But, after she died, he felt the property was too big to manage.

Within a week of registering with Property Pool Plus, he was offered a one bedroom flat in the old town.

His former home has been given to a larger family.

Brian, who now enjoys views over the River Mersey from his Brunswick House home, said: “I went into Halton Housing Trust and they registered me on the waiting list and helped me with the bid.

“It was very quick and the staff were very helpful.

“As the registration was done online, it was good ot have someone to show me how.”

More than 20 housing associations across Halton, Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral advertise their properties at www.propertypoolplus.org.uk Applicants are grouped into bands, based on their needs and time spent on the waiting list.

Pat Hansen, the trust’s housing options manager, said: “I’ve been receiving feedback about how easy the service is to use and that’s fantastic.

“I’m really pleased that Brian is happy in his new home.”
