Actor and novelist Paul Sussman remembered by friends

Paul Sussman, aged 45, from Birchfield Road, Widnes, died on May 31, after suffering a ruptured aneurism at his London home.

He leaves his wife, Alicky, and sons, Ezra, aged five, and Jude, aged three.

Cambridge graduate Paul, was known to most people in Widnes as Titus and performed in 16 productions with the town’s TAD Theatre, including One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest Fellow actor and close friend, Andrew Rogerson, aged 45, of Farnworth Street, said: “He was an adopted Widnesian and loved the town.

“I know that part of what made him a success began here in Widnes. I believe as a town we should all be proud that he spent time amongst us because everything he achieved wa down to truly hard work and determination.

“He was a naturally gifted actor with a powerful voice which lent itself to the stage.”

Paul became a journalist, was a passionate archeologist, and wrote four novels about ancient times.

He sold more than 2.5 million copies of his books which have been translated into 32 languages.

His never saw his last book published, The Labyrinth of Osiris, or the wonderful reception it has received.

A night to remember Paul, through music and theatre, will be held at The Studio, Lacey Street, Widnes, at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 22. Admission is free.

Andrew added: “It is for his family that we want to have the evening to celebrate his life.

“We would love anyone with a memory to come along and write it down as a legacy for his boys to know him by in years to come.”
