CHARITIES are receiving an unexpected boost, thanks to a local supermarket.
Big-hearted customers at Asda Runcorn are being invited to nominate their favourite local good cause.
The top three are listed on a notice board inside the shop for two months.
The one that receives the most votes receives £200 and the takings of a two month bucket collection.
Two runners-up are given £50 each.
Halton Haven Hospice was the first winner and was presented with £1,490 after all the check-out donations were counted.
Dee Samuel, Asda Runcorn’s community life champion, said: “We want to say a big thank you to all our customers. If it wasn’t for them, this wouldn’t happen.”
Halton Carers won £200 in the latest vote and will be presented with the takings of a bucket collection during August and September.
Halton Guide Dogs for the Blind and Goal, a charity which provides food and shelter for young homelss people in Halton, each received £50.
Three more charities will seeking your votes at the end of next month.
