A PENSIONER was the victim of a distraction burglary in Widnes.
Last Thursday, two men called at the home of a 76-year-old man in Standish Court, to discuss cutting back the garden hedge at his property.
As one distracted the victim, the other sneaked into the house and stole money, according to officers from trading standards.
Both men left the scene in a white van.
The first man was described as white, in his 20s about 6ft 4in with a slim build and tidy brown hair. He was wearing black trousers, a white long sleeved shirt and black gloves.
The other was again white, in his 20s about 6ft 3in and of slim build. He was wearing dark trousers, a high visibility jacket and a hat pulled down low. Both spoke in Irish accents.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 567.
