Fun packed sessions on offer for Halton children
HUNDREDS of children are enjoying free summer activities at Halton’s playschemes.
Fun-packed sessions are being held at five venues across the borough, organised by Claire Lomax, project co-ordinator of Halton Play Council.
Arts and crafts, sports, indoor and outdoor games and various other activities are on offer.
Stuart Duncan, play lead for Halton Council, said: “It’s all free. It gives children a chance to have fun and their parents know they are in a safe environment.
“We are limited to 50 in each session but if children turn up and it is full, they will be given a priority ticket for the next session.”
Each session is run by eight staff.
Around 45 jobs have been created for the three-week project.
Mr Duncan added: “It is mainly young people, a lot of students who are doing degrees or teaching qualifications.
“It is good work experience for them.”
The free playschemes are being held from 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
In Widnes, they are at Bankfield School, Liverpool Road, Hough Green Scout Hut, Hall Avenue, and Simms Cross School, Kingsway.
In Runcorn, they are at Westfield School, Clayton Crescent, and Higher House community centre in Brookvale.
Chidlren can just turn up.
A fun day will be held at Bankfield School on Wednesday, August 22, for all children taking part in the play scheme.
An entertainer, inflatables and special events are among the highlights.
Transport will be provided
