Only two weeks left to nominate your sporting champions

AS Olympic fever grips the nation, residents are invited to nominate their local sporting champions.

There are only two weeks left for nominations for the 2012 Halton Sports Awards.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Stobart Stadium on Thursday, September 20.

The aim of the awards is to celebrate the succes of local sporting individuals, clubs and schools.

Whatever their exploits and achievements, this is a chance to reward amateur sports enthusiasts across Runcorn adn Widnes.

Categories include Sports Volunteer of the Year, Young Sports Volunteer of the Year, Sports Club of the Year, Coach of the Year, Sports Person of the Year, Young Sports Person of the Year, Schools Games Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award.

To obtain a nomination form, call 0151 511 8430 or e-mail julie.mcfarlane@halton.gov.uk or download one from www.halton.gov.uk/sportsdevelopment The awards are organised by Halton Sports Partnership and Halton Council.

Closing date is Friday, August 10.
