EMR hopes to open a new metal recycling facility in Widnes
PLANS for a £3 million metal recycling centre, creating 18 new jobs, will not cause noise or pollution, a recycling giant has claimed.
European Metal Recycling, which has 150 outlets across the world, wants to develop a new site on land off Everite Road in Widnes.Ian Nixon, EMR group land manager, said: “There will be no metal mountain here. A wall designed to look like a building, combined with tree planting, will help to shield any views of the site.
“Our work is subject to strict controls to reduce noise levels and prevent pollution.
“I understand that there are some concerns about environmental factors. I want to reassure residents that the materials we process to not create smells or attract flies.”
The company’s development team will answer any questions at a public exhibition on Thursday, August 9. from 4pm-7pm, and Saturday, August 11, from 9.30am-11.30am at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Parish Centre, Mayfield Avenue, Hough Green.
