A TEENAGE man sustained a head injury after being attacked on a canal bank in Runcorn.

Detectives today appealed for witnesses to the incident which happened on a towpath near the entrance to Caithness Court junction underpass in the old town.

The assault followed an argument between two men who were walking and two fishermen.

The 19-year-old victim suffered a small puncture wound to his head. He was treated in hospital and has been discharged.

The assault happened at around 7.30am on Wednesday, July 18.

The offenders are described as white and aged in their 20s.

One was wearing a black hooded top and the other was wearing a grey hooded top.
