A WIDNES mum has embarked on a new career.

Mum-of-three Jennifer Rathbone is determined to get off the dole and make her family proud.

She has launched her fledgling business, Glamour Fashion, at Widnes Market, and hopes to open a shop in the town centre.

Former Fairfield High School pupil, Jennifer, aged 27, of Bishops Way, Halton View, said: “I’ve had enough of being on benefits.

“I didn’t do very well at school. I got pregnant at 18.

“I want my kids to look up to me and say: ‘My mum did this’.”

Jennifer competed a kickstart course with Halton People Into Jobs and has scrimped and saved to stock her stall.

She said: “It’s been a struggle. For the past six months, I’ve been saving every spare penny.

“I’ve been selling my clothes on Ebay to get more money to put into the business.”

Her partner, Paul Jones, aged 30, a gas engineer, is out of work following an accident, and is looking after her three sons, Callum, aged eight, George, aged four, and one-year-old William.

Jennifer studied holistic therapy at college and opened a shop in Runcorn, but was forced to close due to the recession.

She added: “The advice and support I have received on the course has been really good.

“It is a very big risk but I want to go that extra mile and give people good customer service.

“It will be a sense of achievement. I’ve done it all myself.”
