A CELEBRATION was held to honour residents who have gone an extra mile for their local community.
The Heart of Gold Awards rewards the achievements, dedication and commitment of these individuals.
Halton’s Mayor, Clr Tom McInerney presented the awards, sponsored by housing partners, at Runcorn Town Hall, last Thursday.
One of the organisers, Jane Smith from Liverpool Housing Trust, said: “It was very humbling to see that so many people contribute so much in our communities and to see that winning an award has made such a big impact on their lives.”
One of the winners, Ron Sumner, aged 80, of Castlefields, said “It was a fantastic evening; I didn’t expect to have been put forward for the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Community, but I am very honoured to have won.”
