VETERAN Halton Councillor John Swain has died after a short illness.
The former Mayor passed away yesterday at his home in Greenway Road.
Halton Council leader Clr Rob Polhill said: ”I spoke to John early last week and his only concern to me was that he could not fulfil his duties, typical of John.
“He was a dedicated servant to the community who he represented for over 20 years and will be sadly missed by many and fondly remembered.
“I am sure all our thoughts are with Margaret and her family at this very sad time.”
Clr Swain, a former school teacher, was a member of the executive board and represented the Grange ward.
