LAUGHTER filled the streets on Shrove Tuesday as Widnes shopkeepers flipped pancakes into the air.
Traders teamed up for a pancake race in aid of Halton Haven, their charity of the year.
Chairman of Widnes Traders Association Dave Hogg, said: “We’re a key part of the community and want to support the hospice which provides vital care for people with cancer.
“We will be organising lots of charity events. We want to create a buzz.”
Special activities are being planned to celebrate Mother’s Day, Easter and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Dave, owner of Reptile World in Gladstone Street, added: “We want to keep small businesses alive.
“We offer a diverse selection of top quality goods and services, at very competitive prices.
“We want to encourage shoppers coming into the big shops that we have some great little shops here with first class personal service.”
