A HALTON martial arts instructor has won national recognition.
Steve James, aged 38, who has taught more than 100 children and adults in Widnes and Runcorn, is on the front cover of Martial Arts Illustrated.
In a four page interview, he describes how traditional discipline can transform the lives of youngsters.
Steve, from Warrington, started training at the age of nine, with his dad, karate legend Doug James.
He encourages his students to achieve their full potential.
He is proud that all of his instructors were former students.
He said: “Many people do not realise that martial arts is all about teaching respect, discipline and self belief, values that are extremely important.
“My goals are to train and develop my young team of instructors to run their own schools.”
Steve started his own Matt Fiddes Martial Arts School seven years ago.
