A WIDNES man who failed to appear in court after being accused of being a noisy neighbour was landed with a £300 bill.
John Cafferty, aged 24, of Foster Street, was found guilty in his absence at Runcorn Magistrates Court, last Monday, of two offences of breaching a noise abatement notice, issued in April, 2011.
It followed complaints of loud music, shouting and screaming coming from his home at 1.40am on December 12, last year.
Neighbours were issued with noise diaries and recorded a number of disturbances between December and January, 2011.
Equipment installed to monitor the noise in March, 2011, recorded loud music and shouting.
An abatement notice was served on Cafferty in April, to stop the excessive shouting and loud music.
Due to further complaints, monitoring equipment was set up again for periods in April, May and July.
Huey Lewis and the News singing ‘The Power of Love’ was clearly audible at 7.20pm on July 2.
More loud dance music blared out, with shouting, at 5.42am the following day.
Cafferty was fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 costs and £15 victim surcharge .
