A FLASH mob craze has been revived in Runcorn.
Do you remember when people suddenly did strange things like dance at a station or strip on a train?
A flash mob is a term coined in 2003 to denote a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual act for a brief time, then disperse.
A similar artistic project takes off here this week.
French artist Laurence Payot and Halton Council are inviting you to become part of a ‘secret network’ of people.
Everyone who signs up will receive a text message inviting them to carry out a simple task integrated within your everyday life.
These individual actions will create a surprising collective ‘coincidence’.
A Halton Council spokesman, explained: “Coincidence will create a new network of people throughout your community to re-imagine the way we behave and interact on a daily basis in our streets.
“The main difference between a flash mob and this event is that in a flashmob, people all do something together, while these actions will be performed individually, and at different times and places throughout the day.”
To join, e-mail coincidenceproject@gmail.com or call 07794 577175.
You will receive a daily text until Sunday, April 3, inviting you to carry out a simple action.
The project will be documented in a limited edition book and there will be a celebratory event at The Brindley.
