TENDER tributes have been left in memory of Runcorn dad, Alan Catterall, who died in an horrific accident at work.

Flowers and condolence messages have been tied to the factory gates of Pyranha Mouldings Limited in Aston Lane, Whitehouse, where he perished in an industrial oven.

Production worker, Mr Catterall, aged 51, of Sawley Close, Murdishaw, had worked at the canoe and kayak manufacturing company for 10 years.

One message, read: “Alan, you were one in a million and will be very much missed.

“Our thoughts are with you all.”

Another, added; “Great mate, great boss, great loss and greatly missed.”

His brother, Neil, paid tribute, saying: “Loving big brother, Alan, such a tragic waste of such a good life.”

A work colleague, said: “You will be sadly missed and will always be in my thoughts.”

Police were called to the firm shortly before 8am, on Thursday, December 23.

Mr Catterall was on an early shift when the accident happened.

A colleague raised the alarm.

It is not yet known how he came to be stuck inside the oven.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

They are mounting a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive.
