A DANCE tutor has been invited to complete a master’s degree in Malta.

Stephen Musa, aged 28, from Widnes, is the only person in the UK and one of only 10 in the world offered a place at the University of Malta.

Riverside College lecturer, Stephen, said: “Dancing is my life.

“I make sure I deliver the highest standard of dance in Halton, nurturing highly creative and technical dancers.”

World class choreographer Mavin Khoo dance will teach the degree in dance, choreography and technnogy, with Stephen’s ex-tutor, Professor Jo Butterworth, who asked him to attend the prestigious course.

Stephen, added: “I was very thrilled and flattered to be asked and now can’t wait to get started.

“We will be looking at performance opportunties for Riverside dance students in Malta.”

Stephen gained outstanding grades at the Elliott Clarke Theatre in Liverpool and achieved distinctions at Riverside College.

He scored the highest marks for choreography on his degree in Leeds and has worked for several dance companies.

Tragically, he had an accident whilst performing, which left him with three pins in his left knee.

He has been teaching in Halton since 2005.

Maxine Mealey, manager of creative and performing arts at Riverside, said: “Stephen inspires and motivates students to strive for excellence.

“He is an exceptional dancer who ensures all of his students achieve their goals both academically and professionally.”

Stephen also runs his own dance company called Kismet Dance Theatre, which runs dance workshops across the country and has toured the UK.
