INTREPID Keith Wilson has tackled a momentous challenge.
He took part in this year’s Iron Man Triathlon in Lanzarote, and completed 3.8km of swimming, 180km of cycling and a 42.2km run, all in sweltering temperatures of 25c.
Keith, from Hough Green, Widnes, said: “The weather was incredibly hot. Luckily, by the time I was cycling, it was around 4pm in the afternoon so I was slightly cooler.
“To complete the route was a fantastic challenge, even the professionals were dropping out along the way due to the heat.”
Keith, who works for Ineos, has pledged to do the triathlon again next year, to beat his time of 15 hours 32 minutes.
Ciaron Clotworthy, the Haven’s fundraising manager, said: “We’re so proud of Keith. He’s done a remarkable challenge.”
