A GIFTED artist has become one of Britain’s youngest gallery curators.

Emma kelly, aged 24, of Galion Way, Upton Rocks, Widnes, has been appointed to manage The Gallery, a new creative venture at Bank Quay House in Warrington.

She will be arranging exhibitions for both amateur and professional artists in the spring.

Emma said: “I was delighted to be offered the job.

“It is such an amazing opportunity.

“I have lots of contacts and connections throughout the north west which will be a great asset.”

Emma has always loved art and won the top prize for art when she was a pupil at Wade Deacon High School in Widnes.

She graduated in graphic art and design at Leeds Metropolitan in 2007.

She studied in Florence for a month at the acclaimed Il Bisonte international school of printmaking.

Emma said: “It was so inspirational.

“My work was inspired by all the architecture of Florence. Picasso and other great artists studied there.

“The warm oranges and colours of the rooftops.

“I lived in Italy over the summer. You could feel the atmosphere.”

She organised her own solo exhibition to showcase her Italian-inspired work and continues to develop her art in her studio at home.

Emma is keen to encourage artists.

She said: “You have to keep practising. If you’ve got a dream, stick with it.

“I aim to give artists the chance to showcase their work. The gallery already has exciting projects lined up with artists across the north west keen to get involved.”
