A RUNCORN woman who failed to disclose she was living with her partner swindled £14,445 in benefits, Runcorn Magistrates Court heard on Monday.
Elaine See, aged 46, of Larch Road, admitted dishonestly failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions of her change in circumstances affecting her entitlement to income support.
She admitted deceiving Halton Council, failing to tell them that she was living with her partner.
This information would have affected her eligibility to housing and council tax benefit.
She also admitted making a false statement on her application form for housing and council tax benefit.
See was given a community service order with six months supervision for each offence but the orders are to be served concurrently.
She was ordered to pay £150 towards the council’s costs and repay the overpayment in benefits of £14,445.17 to both the Department of Work and Pensions and Halton Council.
