A £74,000 MAKEOVER has given Halton Lodge Community Centre in Runcorn a bright new image.
Volunteers from The Lodge community group secured funding to refurbish the building in Whitchurch Way with a new roof, replacement windows and better security.
Jane Higgins, group chairman, said: “This project has turned an underused local facility into a soon to be thriving local community centre.
“Plans for activities and events are underway and any ideas would be welcomed.”
A drama club for children with learning difficulties, a youth group and bingo already up and running.
The centre is now open from 9am to 10pm.
Kristine Karaski, regeneration officer for Cosmopolitan Housing Association, said: “It has been great to be a part of this project which has seen members of the community work together to provide a fantastic resource.”
The project was funded from Waste Recycling Ltd, administered by Wren through the landfill communities fund, Cosmopolitan Housing Association, Halton Council’s area forum and The Lodge group.
