Schoolchildren given tips on managing money

TEENAGERS were given tips on managing money from experts.

Barclays Bank staff helped pupils at Runcorn’s Halton High School get to grips with budgeting through a new financial literacy programme, developed by Yorkshire Trading Standards.

Fran Gibbins, service manager for cash managing servicing, said: “Being able to use our banking and coaching experience to help us make a difference to those financial decisions that young people make in the future is a fantastic feeling.

“It has been really rewarding for all of Barclay’s coaches as well as the young people.”

The project hopes to help more than 9,000 schoolchidlren master basic money management and prevent them falling into debt in the future.
