WIDNES Vikings will be sporting a new strip to tackle the problem of male cancers.

The team will play in a specially designed kit on Thursday to support male cancer charity Everyman.

Chris Gerrard, Vikings’ loose forward, said: ”Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer.

“Unfortunately, among men it is still a problem we don’t like to talk about.

“We want to help raise awareness of the symptoms, how to get help and to raise money for such an important cause.”

The charity hopes to stamp out testicular and prostrate cancer by making everyone aware of the symptoms.

Cut-price tickets for Thursday’s Halifax game are on sale priced £13 adults and £7 children.

A portion of the gate money will be donated to Everyman.
