Fancy dress costumes celebrate world book day

WITCHES, fairies and cowboys lined up with monsters and clowns as children celebrated world book day.

Pupils and teachers dressed up as characters from their favourite books.

Melanie Barraclough, literacy teacher at Simms Cross Primary School in Widnes, said: “The costumes are amazing as always.

“We would like to thank parents for putting in the time and effort to help their childrem.”

Parents shared books with pupils.

Children became book buddies and read to each other.

Each class was challenged to write their own book from the same first line.

Teachers at SS Peter & Paul RC College dressed up as literary legends, including Shakespeare.

Staff and pupils at Beechwood Primary School in Runcorn also came in costume for the day.
