THE Mersey estuary is set to inspire residents to get in touch with nature.
The Artery of Life project will give people the chance to discover the landscapes and wildlife living on their doorstep.
Lottery funding has been awarded to appoint a project officer to lead this exciting three year initiative.
Clr Phil Harris, board member for the environment, said: “This scheme is an ideal opportunity for local people to get involved in the natural environment, with the river getting cleaner and more people being concerned about the environment.
“The project, which will include film-making, bike trails, better access and opportunities for education will bring long term benefits.”
Project officer Anthony Brandreth said: “We hope to deliver ‘extraordinary encounters’, allowing people to get up close with local wildlife.
“Talking heads book, film and audio trails will explore people’s memories of the last 50 years life in and around the river.
“Wild Child will be a place for children of pre-school age to access wild play opportunities with their parents.”
