TOP retail chain British Home Stores is opening their innovative ‘Home’ store in Widnes, the World can exclusively reveal.

The company will unveil their latest range of home accessories, alongside Marks and Spencer at the multi-million pound Widnes Shopping Park, set to create up to 750 jobs.

Both stores will include coffee shops as thousands of shoppers are expected from all over the region.

Matthew Beddow, director of agent Anderson Hankins, gave The World a preview tour of the development on Monday.

He said: “We are very excited.

“We believe it is going to be fantastic for the people of Halton.

“We have chosen high quality materials for a top quality development. There is more glass and wood than steel and we have chosen polished granite to create a modern, classy finish.

“We are fully committed to Widnes. This will become a very busy part of the town centre again and revive business for many traders.”

Next, River Island, New Look, Boots and Costa Coffee are preparing their stores.

Wallis, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Topman, Warehouse and Burton will offer the latest fashion in The Outfit.

The stores will offer late night openings and trade seven days a week.

Security cameras will monitor CCTV 24-hours a day to ensure safety.

Cllr Rob Polhill, board member for regeneration, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this investment.

“We are doing all we can to ensure the jobs go to local people.

“We hope existing traders will take up the challenge and make Widnes a destination for shopping.”
