New fencing to be erected around 6,000 houses in Widnes and Runcorn

THOUSANDS of homes are to be given a facelift as part of a £6.7 million major refurbishment.

So much fencing will be erected, it could stretch all the way to Halifax.

Nick Sorfleet, project manager of Halton Housing Trust, said: “We will be installing around 47 miles of new boundary fencing to more than 6,000 of the trust’s properties in 26 estates.

“It is designed to improve the safety and privacy of our customers’ homes.”

The project follows on from the trust’s recent £85 million improvement programme which saw thousands of windows, kitchens and bathrooms replaced.

Customers were invited to play a key part in the design, style and colours of the fencing to be used at a consultation event at Stobart Stadium in July.

I built my Dad's fence in a HBC house when I was 12. I'm 48 now. It's still there which shows the complete lack of care this 'trust' has for its tenants. Hopefully he'll get a new six foot fence to keep out his next door's loony kids and their dogs.
