FOUR-piece band The Fireflys are hoping to take the charts by storm in 2010 after releasing their debut album, Better to Burn Out, at the end of last year.

Describing themselves as playing ‘classic rock’, Lee Wylding aged 29, on guitars/vocals, Johnny C, aged 29, on bass and Richie Jones, aged 25, on drums who are from Beechwood and Weston Point in Runcorn, and Matt Chapman, aged 20, on guitars/backing vocals, from Warrington, have been together for three years before being signed up to Canadia records.

Lee said: “After sending out demos and playing gigs, it’s really exciting now that things are starting to happen.

“The response has been really good to the album so far, we’ve had lots of messages on Myspace and Facebook telling us they’ve bought it and like it.

“We’re just really looking forward now to playing some more gigs in February.”

The band, formerly known as Warped, are planning on playing gigs in Wales and London as well as performing on the same bill as the brother of Manic Street Preachers’ Nicky Wire, who has launched a poetry book.
