Help to make Widnes Market the nation's favourite

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to have Widnes Market named Britain’s favourite.

The competition has opened and people have until December 21 to vote online to help the 135-year-old institution win the accolate.

The contest is open to all market operators and is organised by The National Association of British Market Authorities Clr Kevan Wainwright, chairman of the market’s working group said: "Widnes is a vibrant market with friendly and helpful traders. The market has a lot going for it - and despite the recession we are running to almost full occupancy.

"Winning this accolade would really be a feather in the cap of the Market Traders and Halton Borough Council.”
