A TERRIFIED Widnes family was held at knifepoint by a vicious gang in their own home.
Three men burst into their kitchen and threatened a 30-year-old woman and her partner, aged 33, whilst their seven-year-old daughter was left crying in the living room.
“They held a knife to my partner’s throat,” said the distraught mum, of Gleadmere, off Arley Drive in Hough Green, too frightened to be named.
“Then, they held a knife to my throat.
“I was just so worried about my daughter. I tried to remain as calm as possible but we were terrified.
“They demanded money. I had some change on the side. I said: “Take it and get out.””
The three white men, all aged between 18 to 20 and around 6ft tall, walked into their home through an open kitchen door at 6.40pm on Thursday.
“We were watching the telly,” said the woman.
“My partner got up to see what was happening.
“As they held us at knifepoint, they rummaged through the drawers.”
The men, who all spoke with Liverpool accents, demanded cash or drugs but fled empty-handed.
The woman said: “You see stuff on the telly but it’s not something you think will happen to you.
“It was the longest four minutes of my life.
“My little girl was hysterical. She’s slept with us since it happened.
“It could have been a lot worse. They could do it to someone else and someone could end up getting hurt.
“We’ve bought new bolts and chains. Everything’s always locked up. We’re sat in all the time. If anyone comes to see us, we ask them to ring first.
“The house alarm is on even if I nip out to school to pick up my little girl.
“They’ve made us turn our house into a prison.”
The couple immediately raised the alarm and the police carried out a thorough search of the estate.
DC Andy Wallace, who is investigating the incident, said: “We would like to reassure people. We don’t want the local community to feel scared. This sort of incident is rare.”
He is appealing to anyone who can identify the culprits from these descriptions to contact him.
The first man had strawberry blonde hair, a skinny build and round face.
He was wearing a black coat with white coloured markings under each arm and black track suit bottoms.
The second man was of stocky build. He was wearing a grey jogging suit.
The third man had a dark coloured top and trousers.
Anyone with information can call DC Andy Wallace on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
