A CANNABIS factory has been discovered in Runcorn.
Police officers found almost 100 cannabis plants in two upstairs bedrooms of a terraced house in Percival Lane Sgt Andy Delooze, of Runcorn Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing and we will now do everything we can to trace those responsible.
“This is a significant find and fortunately, with the help of the public, we have been able to put a stop to this.”
Officers broke into the property at 7.20am, last Wednesday, after a tip-off from a member of the public,.
The plants and drugs paraphernalia including lighting, extraction systems and electrical transformers, were seized.
The Cannabis plants at various stages of growth are being forensically examined.
The property was empty at the time adn no-one has yet been arrested in connection with the incident.
Enquiries are continuing and officers are confident they will trace the culprit.
Patrols were stepped up in the area as officers delivered leaflets informing residents that a warrant had been executed.
Police say the latest find highlights the importance of community intelligence.
Sgt Delooze added:”Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against drugs.
“We would appeal for people to continue providing us with any information so that we can continue to target the issue.
“Residents can rest assured that we are committed to tackling suspected drug use and supply in the local community.
“It is an issue we take extremely seri seriously and w hope that the actions of local officers is helping to reassure the local community that we will not tolerate any sort of behaviour which has a negative impact on the qualify of life of others.”
