Lounge Coffee and Wine Bar opens in Widnes Road

A BEAUTY queen and professional footballer joined guests to celebrate the opening of a new bar in Widnes on Saturday.

Danielle Lloyd, Miss Great Britain 2006, and her boyfriend, Jamie O’Hare, who plays for Portsmouth, heralded the launch of The Lounge Coffee and Wine Bar in Widnes Road.

Widnes entrepreneur Peter Quinlivin teamed up with partners to buy the former Mexican tapas restaurant, and former Italian restaurant across the road, from Karen Gilmour.

Widnes mum Karen, aged 43, of Highfield Road, turned the dilapidated former off-licence into an upmarket trattoria, under the gaze of TV cameras on Channel 4’s Risking It All.

She gambled everything with her partner, Marcus Johnstone and their six children to make their dream come true.

Peter, aged 44, said: “Karen did a fantastic job and established good quality restaurants and bars in Widnes.

“We are very excited.

“We are giving the restaurant a modern look and will serve English food and steaks.”

The new look restaurant opens on Saturday and will be managed by Steven Clarke and Justin Cooper.

Lorraine Clark, aged 31, and her husband, Ben, Steven’s brother, aged 28, a plasterer, of Deirdre Avenue, Widnes, are directors.

Lorraine, a kick boxer and personal trainer, will manage The Lounge Coffee and Wine Bar.

She said: “It is a great opportunity and a new thing for me to do.

“We’ve got free WIFI for students, xbox playing all day and online games for children “We will be serving light snacks, sandwiches and cakes.

“We hope it will become a meeting place for mums and and their friends. We’ve got some comfortable couches.”

Lorraine has two sons, Kyle aged eight months and Cameron, aged six.

Live music and karaoke starts next Thursday.

The bar opens at 9.30am every day and has a 2am licence.
