TWO Manchester United stewards have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a fan was allegedly thrown down a flight of stairs breaking both his legs.
The incident happened during United’s clash with City in September when Blue’s fan Peter Sweeney claims he was tossed down a flight of stairs by the stewards having been twice caught smoking inside Old Trafford.
Mark Roberts, 46, of George Street, Oldham, and Paul Stringer, 45, of Grangeway, Runcorn, have now both been charged by Greater Manchester Police.
They are due to appear at Trafford Magistrate’s Court next Monday .
