A MAN is recovering after being attacked by knife-wielding hoodies on Spike Island in Widnes.
The 24-year-old victim was walking home along the footpath adjacent to the River Mersey leading from the wooden bridge to the lock gates at around 11pm on Saturday, October 10 when two men passed him coming from the direction of the Catalyst Museum.
One of the hoodies grabbed him from behind while the second stood in front of the victim brandishing a knife and demanding his belongings.
The victim struggled with his attackers and received cuts to one of his hands from the knife, which resulted in him needing hospital treatment.
The culprits fled empty handed towards the wooden bridge.
A police spokesman described the two offenders as aged between 17 and 18 years old.
One is believed to be around 5ft 8in, of skinny build and was wearing black shellsuit-style tracksuit bottoms with white lettering on the right side of the right leg, and possibly a matching tracksuit top.
He also wore a black zip fasten coat with a large hood and a flap at the front covering his head with the chords pulled tightly around his face.
Police say he also wore black leather gloves and black footwear.
The second offender is described as being of average build, around 6ft with tanned skin and blue eyes.
He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt top with the hood up, a blue baseball cap with a grey visor, black tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and thick non-leather gloves.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call DC Tim Cope at Runcorn police station on 01244 614904.
