RUNCORN Town progressed through to the second round of the Cheshire Amateur Cup on Saturday after a 4-0 victory at Cheshire League Two leaders Lostock Gralam.
Town took the lead after 23 minutes when Warren Bellew released Tony Wynne down the right hand side and his cross was turned in by Jon McEvoy.
Despite numerous chances the second goal did not arrive until 75 minutes when Danny Cummins put Bellew through the centre and he coolly slotted past the keeper.
A minute later it was 3-0 with Bellew getting his second when Danny Dalton released Wynne down the right and he pulled the ball back to Bellew who fired home.
The fourth arrived after 83 minutes after Bellew got to the by-line and pulled it back for McEvoy to grab his second.
Lostock's best chance came in stoppage time from the penalty spot, but Karl Wills dived to his left to save his second penalty of the season from Liam Henderson.
Meanwhile Runcorn Town Reserves got back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Mossley Hill Athletic at Pavilions thanks to an Aarron Brown hat-trick.
Missed chances looked costly with three minutes to go when Phil Duncan’s deflected shot found the net, but Town continued to press and were rewarded with the winner in stoppage time.
Anderson played a one two with substitute Anthony Verry before delivering a perfect chip into Brown’s path with the forward volleying home his third to win the match for Town.
