INTREPID teacher David Ellis challenged his pupils to cajole him to tackle his biggest ever mission.
Year five pupils at Palacefields Primary School in Runcorn had to put their persuasive writing skills to the test.
David told them he was hoping to scale Britain’s highest three peaks - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon - but needed their encouragement.
“They researched the event and downloaded photos to put together a presentation for me,” explained David, aged 35.
“They spent 20 minutes, using geography, literacy, mathematics and ICT skills convincing me it was a good idea.”
Their pulling power and sponsorship proved a huge incentive and David climbed all three mountains in 21 hours and 56 minutes.
David completed the Three Peaks Challenge with his friends, Tim Appleton and Matt Sinster.
Their fundraising efforts were doubled to £750 by Barclays Bank and will be shared between the school and a charity which rescues children from the streets of Thailand.
