YOBS hurtling through Hale Village at high speed in two cars hurled stones at a man out walking his dog.
The 49-year-old victim suffered a split nose and says the missiles narrowly missed an elderly lady.
“It was a terrible shock,” said the man, who has lived in the village for 17 years.
“The stones missed her and caught me on the side of my nose, leaving me with a half inch split on the top of my nose.
“I dread to think what could have happened if they had hit me in the eye.”
The man was walking along Hale Road at 9pm when two cars, travelling from Speke towards Widnes, shot past him.
“They were really speeding, in excess of 60mph,” he said.
“They came around the corner screeching.
“I think the village is getting worse. Apart from a few thatched roofs, there is nothing to distinguish it from Speke.”
He said one of the cars was a grey Ford Fiesta type vehicle.
There were four youths in each car.
Inspector Sharon Case, of Widnes Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “I can confirm we received a report of gangs of teenagers throwing objects out of the window of a car travelling at high speed.
“This man was very lucky. It could have been much more serious.
“We are appealing for witnesses.”
The incident happened on Tuesday, June 30.
Anyone who saw the cars before or after 9pm, can call 0845 458 6383 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
