A CREATIVE showcase of artwork at The Brindley has been described as imaginative, innovative and inspiring by Halton students.

Louise Hesketh, visual arts development officer at Halton Council, said: “The work on display is created with energy, enthusiasm and a lot of work beyond the usual curriculum.

“Responses from artists, students and teachers compliment the work.

“We invited five artists working in the fields of drawing, printmaking, environmental art and sculpture to lead the projects.

“We hope we can continue this opportunity to provide creative exchanges and opportunities for Halton’s young people.”

Artists Rebecca Chesney, Steffan Jones-Hughes, Sarah Nicholson, Laurence Payot and Claire Weetman worked with pupils from seven secondary schools and special schools.

They spent two sessions with the children after dicussions with their teachers and returned a month later to discuss the final results and offer feedback.

Inspired Responses 4 runs at the gallery until February 14. Admission is free.

Work by the artists who inspired the children is on show alongside pieces by the youngsters.
