A GANG of man armed with machetes raid a Widnes home before stealing what police are calling a 'large amount of cash'.

At around 5.30pm last Saturday, March, 16, three unknown men forced entry into an address on Liverpool Road.

Once inside, the men, who were armed with machetes, threatened the occupants.

They then fled the scene in an unknown direction, taking with them a large quantity of cash.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are urging members of the public with information which could aid the investigation to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Gary Cooney, of Widnes CID, said: “This was an absolutely terrifying incident for all those involved, and we are committed to doing all we can to trace the people responsible.

“Enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone who was in the Liverpool Road area around the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.

“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid our investigation."
