Loving lions put John in the frame

THIS tender moment between loving lion Asoka and his mate Asha won a Runcorn photographer a top accolade.
John Birch was awarded the prestigious title Photographer of the Year 2007 at Chester Zoo.
He won a canvas print of his picture, a Canon wireless compact digital camera, £100 worth of vouchers for Camera Solutions of Chester and a trophy shield.
He beat thousands of entries to scoop the award.
Reuters award-winning photographer Phil Noble was the judge.
The competition runs from April to December every year.
