We are now in Bangkok, having spent 5 nights in Hong Kong. Initial expectations were high when we arrived in HK but we soon became tired with the people and the rudeness we came across. We used the subway to get around which was again super efficient but people stare and in general were not very pleasant. Hong Kong is so populated that it is a bit like London in the way locals push their way to the front and don't really do queueing! People didn't smile back when we smiled at them and you might not think this would make a difference, but it does.

Hong Kong itself is definitely something that I am glad to have seen...we experienced dim sum on board the Jumbo Floating restaurant in Aberdeen harbour (even though we were literally gagging because it was like meat wrapped in white jelly) and went by cable car to Lantau island to see the giant Buddha which showed some fantastic views of Hong Kong. We also spent a day at Ocean Park - a far cry from our theme parks in the UK - again eveything was so efficient and we saw dolphin shows, pandas and lots more for about 12 pounds.

Cost wise Hong Kong is cheaper than you would expect and you can get a meal for the cost of a loaf of bread or you can pay lots more. I eventually got my bag back .. about 24 hours later so not bad really. And I had a few more sleeps waking up at 3am but that seems to have passed and we have settled more. We arrived in Bangkok two days ago and we both love it here. Locals are extremely friendly and our hotel upgraded us as soon as we got here so we are living in luxury for a while before we set off to the islands. I have lots to tell about Thailand so far but the lady on the desk is telling me my time is up!
