FIREFIGHTERS were called after a car was ablaze last night.

The vehicle was on fire on Lune Way, Widnes. The flames also spread to fencing at a nearby address.

Crews put out the fire after being called at 9.24pm on Friday.

One fire engine attended from Widnes.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to a car on fire which had spread to fencing at an address in Lune Way, Widnes.

"A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and then damped down the car.

"The car was checked over with a thermal imaging camera to make sure it didn't reignite."
