A MARRIED couple had to abandon their anniversary meal after a wedding ring became stuck on the woman's finger.
The romantic pair had reserved a table at an Indian restaurant in Ramsbottom to celebrate their anniversary on Saturday, September 22.
The woman, aged 36, had put on her wedding ring ahead of the meal at Cardamom Cream, but on arrival, realised that her ring finger had begun to swell up.
She and her husband made an unexpected visit to Bury Fire Station to have the ring cut off.
Ste Urmston, watch manager at Bury Fire Station, said: "A young couple attended the station.
"The restaurant had said they would save their table for one hour.
"They came to the station so that we could cut the ring off, and then they headed back to enjoy their anniversary meal.
"We used special ring removal tools to take it off. It was a Titanium ring with diamonds in it — the lad had not skimped.
"The woman said she would get an extra piece of metal put into the ring to have it repaired."
