BUS passengers in Halton can look forward to a reduced ticket price when they travel with Arriva.

The company has announced it is expanding its Merseyside Zone multi-journey tickets in and around Halton and through to Warrington and Liverpool.

The new ticket comes into force on Sunday and customers travelling from Halton into Liverpool or Warrington will see a reduction in the cost of a weekly ticket from £18 to £15, while the day ticket will be reduced by £1.10.

For those passengers travelling within Halton, there will also be a £1 weekly saving and all tickets are available to buy on the bus and via the company’s m-Ticket app.

Lisa Pearson, head of marketing commented: “Following the success of the reduced weekly ticket prices in Merseyside, we wanted to give more people in the north west the opportunity to travel by bus for less.

"We’re keen to make bus the first transport of choice in a bid to help reduce congestion and air pollution in our towns and cities, and we hope the reduced weekly fare will help more people do this.”

Earlier in March, Arriva announced it was reducing the cost of its weekly tickets in Merseyside in a bid to encourage more people to travel by bus over summer.

The success of the ticket has seen it extended to include more regions in the north west.
